REDWOOD CITY

THE JEWEL BOX

01
Context

This was a very big little project. Though the actual amount of addition was minimal (424 SF) the change to the building was both big and small. Our mandate was to create a new and daring addition to the home while maintaining the integrity of the original architect’s vision.

02
Project

Brick columns were retained or re-built and the new structure was knitted into old in the roof plane. Skylights changed the daylight profile of the home and views were linked to create a cohesive home in nature.

03
Details

The home became all electric, insulated, laundry microplastics filters, and sustainable woods such as Sassafras were used. Client’s taste in color, art and light completed the vision.
